Without waiting for the opening of the doors of the Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche disclosed the details of the new Porsche Cayenne third generation. Crossover 2019-2020 model year has received several important improvements in comparison with its predecessor . In particular, the power structure of the body was thoroughly revised, the exterior design was noticeably changed, tangible changes were made to the technical equipment, the list of basic and optional equipment was expanded.
Acceptance of orders for an updated car in Germany has already started, and the first machines will reach customers by the end of 2019. Those who make a choice in favor of the base Cayenne, equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with a return of 340 hp, will have to fork out a minimum of 74,828 euros. The price of the “charged” S-version, hiding under the hood of the turbo unit V6 2.9 with a capacity of 440 hp, was 91 964 euros. In the salons of Russian dealers accept orders for the new Porsche Cayenne 2019-2020 will begin no earlier than January next year. Closer by this time, ruble prices and crossover sets for our market will be announced. To see the novelty personally to domestic motorists, most likely, it will turn out only in May 2019.
Recall that Porsche Cayenne is the real flagship of the German company, which accounts for about a third of all sales. Platform and dimensions
The “third” Porsche Cayenne is built around a shorter version of the MLB Evo platform, the long version of which is the basis for the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga . With the change of generations, the model has kept the distance between the axes – 2895 mm, but the external dimensions have changed. Thus, the length and width of the body increased by 63 and 44 mm (up to 4918 and 1983 mm), respectively, and the height, on the contrary, decreased by 9 mm (up to 1696 mm).
Having become a little bigger and squat, the all-terrain vehicle managed to lose several tens of kilograms of weight. For example, the initial version of “lost weight” from 2040 to 1985 kg, other modifications lost up to 65 kg. Make the new Porsche Cayenne body more lightweight has allowed the wide use of aluminum. All doors (including the tailgate), hood, fenders, roof, floor, front power structure and some suspension elements are made of this metal. Winning up to 10 kg provided the replacement of a conventional battery with a lithium-ion battery.

This paradox of external changes is due to the fact that despite the classic upgrade scenario, Porsche designers focused their main efforts on the repainting of the stern, while a small correction was made in the front. As a result, the horizontal bars of the radiator grille and side sections were lined up in more strict rows, which resulted in a single unit, stretched out across the entire width of the body, a visual block. In addition, the headlights and the lower part of the bumper slightly changed, and the hood acquired a slightly different surface relief.

The car’s forage got rid of the awkward oval lights, and now in their place flaunts a narrow arrow-shaped optics with a thin LED strip that connects the main modules. Also, the rear bumper has been slightly redesigned, which involves two possible configurations of the exhaust pipes. The usual Porsche Cayenne can be recognized by two trapezoidal nozzles, the Cayenne S sports modification – a pair of twin round tips.
New forage design
Increasing the overall length of the crossover required the installation of larger rear doors. Another not so obvious innovation, revealed when looking at the new items on the side – it’s grown by one inch base wheels. From now on, the dimensions of the discs vary from 19 to 21 inches, with wider tires being allowed from the rear, which was not provided for the previous generation car.
Interior and equipment
The salon of the renovated Porsche Cayen meets the typical for all models of the premium German brand by the architecture of the front panel. Even a cursory glance is enough to catch her resemblance to the analogous element of the last Panamera . At the same time, there are no questions to the layout itself – the ergonomic component is at the highest level, ensuring easy interaction of the driver and passengers with on-board systems. The main role in this matter is given to the advanced multimedia complex Porsche Communication Management (PCM), equipped with a widescreen display with a diagonal of 12.3 inches. The system includes built-in navigation, voice control, easy integration of smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces, 4G Internet access, Wi-Fi access point, a lot of Porsche Connect services.
Front panel and console
Under the main multimedia screen there are hand-held ventilator deflectors (in Panamera they are controlled by a servo drive), and below it there is a massive console with a set of touch buttons that control the climate control settings, the heating and ventilation of seats, etc. There are also several physical switches here, including the electric rifle key. Part of the driver’s information is displayed on the dashboard, combining the analog tachometer in the center and a pair of 7-inch displays on either side of it. The display of data on these screens can be controlled using the multifunction steering wheel buttons.
Second row of seats
As standard, the “third” Cayenne includes fully LED lights and lights, front seats with electric and heated, two-zone air conditioning, eight airbags. Matrix LED Matrix LED Matrix LED with 84 individual LEDs, ventilation and massage for the seats, heated seats, four-zone climate control, a night vision system, panoramic roof, Bose or Burmester acoustics are present in expensive versions. The list of electronic assistants form an adaptive cruise control, a camera of a circular view, a parking assistant, tracking marking and holding in the strip, recognition of traffic signs.
Cargo Porsche Cayenne 3
The increased distance between the edges of the bumpers and the extended rear overhang of the body made it possible to organize a more spacious cargo hold. Its base volume is 770 liters, which exceeds the pre-reform capacity by 100 liters. However, the folded rear backrests dramatically change the situation – with this layout, only about 1710 liters of cargo is placed in the trunk, although it was possible to lay before 1780 liters.
Specifications of the Porsche Cayenne 2019-2020
Engineers Porsche seriously shook up the engine range of the crossover, eliminating obsolete units and putting into operation high-performance turbocharged engines. From the start of sales, the new model will go in two modifications:
- The conventional Porsche Cayenne with a 3.0-liter “turbo-chaser”, generating 340 hp. and 450 Nm. In tandem with the 8-speed automatic Tiptronic S box, the engine provides the car with an acceleration of up to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the base Cayenne is limited to 245 km / h, fuel consumption is 9.0-9.2 l / 100 km.
- The Porsche Cayenne S version comes with a 2.9-liter V6 turbocharger with a power output of 440 hp. (550 Nm), working in tandem with the same 8AKPP. Acceleration to “hundreds” – 5.2 seconds, the speed limit – 265 km / h, fuel consumption – 9.2-9.4 l / 100 km.
For both versions, an additional Sport Chrono package is designed to improve the dynamic performance. With this option, the Cayenne spends from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds, the Cayenne S has 4.9 seconds.
Gamma versions of the new Porsche will eventually expand. It should include diesel modifications, the “hurricane” Cayenne Turbo with a 550-horsepower V8, a hybrid version with recharging from the domestic network.
The technique of the new Porsche Cayenne
The new generation of crossover chassis includes a front dual-link and rear multi-link suspension (optional three-chamber air suspension), adaptive PASM shock absorbers, a steering wheel (up to 2.8 degrees) ).
Full drive Porsche Cayenne is based on the original rear-wheel drive configuration with the connection of the front axle with a multi-disc clutch, the degree of locking depends on the selected driving mode and a number of parameters (steering angle, position and accelerator pedal speed). To boost the off-road, four modes of the all-wheel drive will help: “Mud”, “Gravel”, “Sand” and “Rocks”.
Cayenne buyers will be offered three options for brake mechanisms – standard cast iron wheels with front six-piston calipers, Porsche Surface Coated Brake wheels with tungsten carbide coating (improves friction and reduces dust formation) and carbon-ceramic discs.
