The interior of the new generation of Gelendvagen has become more comfortable, borrowing a lot of parts and equipment from the passenger car models of the German manufacturer – Mercedes E-Class and S-Class . First of all, this concerns two color 12.3-inch displays located at the top of the front panel under a common visor. The first screen serves as a multifunctional instrument panel, the second advanced multimedia complex.
Salon 3 generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class looks very organic and stylish. The interior of the novelty is not so brutal and rough as its predecessor , but more refined and even refined. Perhaps the fact is that she created the interior design of the new Gelendvagen woman … yes, in the test is not a typo, it is the young designer lady from Bulgaria Lilia Chernaeva. Lilia Chernayeva has done her work so responsibly that it’s enough to just look at the photos of the new showroom to understand that we have the interior of the G-Class off-road car, rather than the interior of the coupe, sedan or crossover of the German Mercedes-Benz brand. Puzzling, perhaps, only glamorous deflectors of ventilation, borrowed from the salon Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe .

It is interesting that the manufacturer intentionally equips the novelty with ancient, large and brutal external door handles, and the doors themselves close with a rough metallic sound. It’s a pity that after surviving the change of generation, the Mercedes G-class never got a handrail on the driver’s side – getting into the saloon, like the last generation SUV, has to grasp the rim of the steering wheel. Having located in a comfortable chair, we find out that we are located as high as in the cabin of the predecessor, while the slope of the windshield has not changed, which can not be said about the apparent increase in the cabin of the car in width.

The quality of materials in the salon of the new Gelendvagen is incommensurably higher than in the interior of an SUV, which is poisoned for a deserved rest after so many years of production.
Of the equipment we want to note two color 12.3-displays (in the base, however, the screen is only one, and smaller than the large one, and the instrument panel is an ordinary analog one). Two-zone or three-zone climate control, simple but comfortable seats for driver and front passenger with electric adjustment or advanced multi-circuit, a platform for wireless charging of smartphones, a standard audio system with 7-speaker and optional premium audio system Burmester with 16 points of sound, a huge selection of options for personalizing the cabin by selecting materials for finishing (genuine leather, Alcantara, Nappa, precious wood, aluminum and carbon).
It only remains to add that the passengers of the second row are allocated not only more legroom, but the rear sofa itself is set lower for a more comfortable placement. The back of the rear seats is folded in the proportion of 40/60, thus significantly increasing the already huge trunk of the SUV. The luggage compartment door, of course, is equipped with an electric drive, with the function of a non-contact opening, and as a bonus received a lot of pockets for small things.

The new Gelandewagen retained the design with a powerful spar frame and a full-size all-wheel drive, supplemented by differential locks, but … got a new independent front suspension, power steering and pneumatic springs in the suspension. At the same time, after changing the generation, the SUV became much wider, threw off the extra due to the wide use of aluminum parts, and acquired more economical motors.
