The updated hybrid sedan Honda Legend with the appearance in the style of the modernized twin brother Acura RLX entered the Japanese market in early February 2020. The official premiere of the updated sedan Honda Legends took place in the autumn of last year 2019 in the framework of the auto show in Tokyo. In our review, the flagship of the Japanese company Honda Honda Legend sedan 2019-2020 – photo, price, specifications and specifications of the upgraded 5-meter four-door hybrid power plant. The price of the modernized Honda Legend sedan on the Japanese market is from 70.74 million yen (about 3800 thousand rubles).
Once popular in many countries of the world, Honda Legends (the sedan was sold in Russia and enjoyed steady demand) is now sold only in the country of the Rising Sun and, frankly, badly. Pre-reform model by the end of 2016 found only 830 buyers, and in 2019 finished with a meager result of 405 copies. Will the restyling of 2020 allow to attract more attention from local motorists to the updated Honda Legend sedan, or will the flagship Honda soon have to retire?
We are inclined to the second option, and as arguments we offer several reasons.
- First, the update of the model is cosmetic in nature.
- Secondly, Honda Legend has become almost an exact copy of the Acura RLX.
- Third, large sedans in Japan are sold every year worse and worse.
So the management of the Japanese company Honda Motor decided not to invest in the upgrade of the sedan. The modernized Honda Legend acquired a subtle appearance copied from the twin brother Acura RLX, a slightly modernized interior, an expanded list of equipment and the Honda Sensing branded security complex.
Honda’s updated sedan flaunts a new pentagonal falshradiator grille that has become the hallmark of modern Acura models, but not of cars with the Honda logo, modernized front and rear bumpers, fully LED headlamps and smart light bulbs with stylish LED graphics. It remains only once again to note that the Honda Legend, having lost its individuality, has become an exact copy of the Acura RLX.
- External dimensions of the body of the Honda Legend 2019-2020 are 5030 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, 1480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm and 145 mm of ground clearance.
- With a standard tire installation of 245/40 R19, the front and rear wheels are 1630 mm wide.
The interior of the surviving Japanese sedan was almost untouched, compared to the pre-styling version of the model. Composers only offered new seats for the driver and front passenger with a more qualitative and expressive profile, as well as new decorative inserts around the perimeter of the cabin. In this sedan is standardly equipped with a complex of security systems Honda Sensing with included in it adaptive cruise control and an automatic braking system.
A pleasant bonus can be considered increased by 13 liters useful volume of the trunk and luggage compartment cover with electric drive. The increase in the volume of the luggage compartment is achieved due to the use of smaller batteries.
The updated sedan of Honda Legends is offered in one fixed and very rich complete set. Available leather interior trim with a choice of 4 color options – black, dark brown, gray and ivory, decorative inserts of natural wood, the driver’s and front passenger’s seat with electric adjustment (8 directions) and the ability to control from the rear seats, heating and ventilation of all seats, push-button control automatic transmission, multi-function steering wheel with electric steering column adjustment, informative instrument panel, two color displays on the center console, providing the driver with full and formation (navigation, multimedia, picture with multi-function camera), three-zone climate control, head-up display, full LED head optics, fog and tail lights.
Specifications Honda Legend 2019-2020 year.
Unlike the twin brother Acura RLX, which is offered both with a gasoline engine and a hybrid powerplant, the updated Honda Legend is equipped with an exceptionally hybrid system consisting of a gasoline atmospheric 3.5-liter V6 (314 hp 371 Nm) running in the company with a 7-step preselective robotic gearbox, and an electric motor (48 hp 148 Nm), which transmit traction to the front wheels. The drive of the rear wheels is provided by a pair of electric motors, each with a power of 37 forces with a thrust of 73 Nm on each of the rear wheels. The complex all-wheel drive system with controlled thrust vector is called the SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD and provides the Japanese sedan with excellent handling.
The manufacturer assures that the updated sedan has improved dynamic characteristics than the pre-reform model, due to changes in the settings of the power plant. At the same time, the engineers also improved the chassis of the sedan to ensure greater sportiness.
