According to the idea of the creators of the new Hyundai i30 Fastback, developed, by the way, in Hyundai Design Center Europe, the car is both a car with the spirit of a sports car and a car with a flattering comfortable interior, like a luxury sedan … a marketing move, no more, in our opinion.
Before the sports car the novelty is very far. Under the hood, the petrol turbo engines are 1.0 T-GDI and 1.4 T-GDI with 120 and 140 horsepower respectively, which will later be a 1.6-liter Turbo Diesel with a payback of 110 and 136 horses. A choice of also a pair of gearboxes: for gasoline 120-horsepower and diesel 110-horsepower 6 manual transmission, for more powerful 136 and 140 strong engines, a robotic 7DCT transmission with two clutch discs.
You can, of course, assume that Europeans will be attracted by several sports appearance of the new Korean 5-door fastback, called the proudly-coupe. Designers, by the way, actually tried, as they say, to glory, and awarded the car a very dynamic profile with a long hood, a strong slope of the roof line and the original stern.
The body looks muscular due to swollen wheel arches and a powerful rib that prescribes the sides of the car. For even greater sportiness, the Hyundai ay30 fastback got a 15% harder suspension and a 5 mm lower ground clearance than the standard Hyundai i30 hatchback.
- The external overall dimensions of the body of the Hyundai i30 Fastback 2019-2020 are somewhat different from those of the related hatchai Hyundai ay30. The length of the body is 115 mm longer (4455 mm), and the height is 30 mm smaller (1425 mm), the distance between the axles for the soplatform models is identical – 2650 mm.
If the appearance of the new Hyundai ay30 fastback as a whole is original, then the interior exactly repeats the interior design of the hatchback and station wagon, but with a couple of reservations. First, the large overall length of the body allowed to give the novelty a more spacious luggage compartment than a hatchback, and this can be attributed to the asset model. But, secondly, it is also a passive, understated domed roof that conceals precious millimeters above the heads of passengers in the rear row.
Otherwise, we have a modern, stylish and cozy salon with high-quality finishing materials, excellent ergonomics of the driver’s workplace and a lot of advanced equipment. There is a convenient multi-functional steering wheel, strict and informative devices, a strict front panel crowned with a stand-alone 8-inch color touchscreen multimedia system (navigation, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a neat central console with a modern climate control unit, Smoothly flowing into a solid central tunnel. The driver’s and front passenger’s seats in addition to the expressive lateral support will please the anatomical profile of the backrest and dense packing.
In general, the new Hyundai i30 Fastback is not bad, but it’s far from a sport car, and the interior is ordinary and unlikely to compete with the interiors of luxury sedans. In a word, we have a typical representative of the European C-class, positioned by the manufacturer as a 5-door coupe with sports makings.
