The presentation of the updated Dacia (Renault) Duster 2019-2020 was held at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which opened its doors to visitors just the other day. This is the second generation of the popular model sold in Europe under the Dacia brand, and in the markets of Russia, Asia and South America – with the classic Renault brand nameplate. In Germany, the trial of the public is presented exactly the option for the countries of the Old World, which will go on sale in early 2019. The global version, which is an almost exact copy of the European “fellow”, can be purchased not before the end of 2019 – early 2019.
In Russia, one of the leaders of our market, realized under the name of Renault Daster , will appear in an updated form, most likely not before 2019. The Russian version in terms of body and salon design as two drops of water will be similar to the new Dacia model, so for her example we will consider the whole complex of updates issued to the crossover during the change of generations. The “second” Duster basically has the same B0 platform successfully used by its predecessor . In this regard, no noticeable adjustments to the exterior dimensions of the body did not have to wait, they did not happen. However, the manufacturer has not yet published the exact figures, limited to rounded values. In length, the updated crossover extended by 4.3 meters, the width of the car was 1.8 meters. The geometric patency of the car slightly worsened by reducing the angle of the exit from 36 to 33 degrees. The angle of entry at the same time remained the same – 30 degrees, as well as the ground clearance, preserved at 210 mm, has not changed.

When drawing the appearance, the designers did not begin to arrange revolutions, trying to withstand the thousands of fans who liked the outlines and proportions. To distinguish from the outside the new version of the model from the pre-reform to the unsophisticated motorist will not succeed at once, the more surprising is the fact that almost all the body panels of the second-generation SUV are completely new. Visually the same edits do not seem so large-new design received the grille, a slightly different configuration was acquired by the head optics, the bumper was lightly adjusted, and the hood relief changed slightly. Among other innovations, we note the seriously transformed rear lights with a new pattern in the form of a sight, a reformat door of the luggage compartment, plastic overlays behind the front wings with 4WD symbols and turn signals, black triangular sections at the base of the side mirrors.
From an attentive look, drawn from a lateral perspective, such details as a raised window-line and a new bright design of 17-wheel rims do not escape. But another innovation is not so easy to notice – the bottom edge of the windshield was 100 mm away from the driver, and the slope of the glass and side rails, respectively, increased. According to the manufacturer’s plan, this solution should add to the riders’ space.
New quality of interior
If Dacia-Reno Duster changed in the details in the details, but the concept remained the same, then the cabin of the SUV was modified in full. All aspects were touched – interior architecture, seats, finishing materials, available equipment. And, most importantly, each of the improvements looks appropriate and appropriate, therefore, in general, the interior now looks more interesting and original.
One of the main items in the list of updates was the revision of the front panel. On it from now on, new ventilators have been prescribed, and in the center there are three, and not two, as before. It is interesting that the modernized climate control unit located in the lower part of the console, in unison with the vent nozzle, acquired three circular functional elements. This consistency produces a pleasant visual impression. Excellent fit in the overall configuration and a horizontal block of buttons located directly above the air conditioning panel.
In addition to the above innovations, the Renault Duster 2 salon can boast a slightly raised and turned to the driver screen of the multimedia system, a new four-spoke steering wheel with adjustable in two planes (40 mm in height and 50 mm on the fly), an improved combination of instruments, more comfortable front seats with a new frame and a 20 mm long cushion. This transformation is not limited – the appearance of the compartment at the very bottom of the console forced the developers to shift the washer control off-road modes to the inter-passenger tunnel and at the same time to displace the handle of the “handbrake” to the right. To top it all, the quality of the finishing materials used has improved.
In the list of equipment available for new items, which appears in the top-end trim levels, there is a climate control system, a circular view system, keyless access and engine start button, lumbar support of the driver’s seat, curtain airbags. The range of electronic assistants was replenished with automatic switching of headlights and monitoring of “blind” zones.
The luggage compartment of the Dacia-Renault Duster after the reform has said goodbye to 30 liters of usable volume. Now at the front-wheel drive versions behind the backs of the rear seats are placed a maximum of 445 liters of cargo, for all-wheel drive – 376 liters.
Specifications of Renault Duster in the new body of 2019-2020 year
In Europe, the line of Duster engines of the 2nd generation will consist of the following units:
- Gasoline “atmospheric” 1.6 SCe power 115 hp;
- Gasoline turbo engine 1.2 TCe with a return of 125 hp;
- Diesel 1.5 dCi 90 hp;
- Diesel 1.5 dCi 110 hp
All engines are paired with a mechanical box, but front-wheel modifications with a 110-horsepower diesel also rely on the pre-selective “robot” EDC.
In Russia, the new Renault Daster will get its “own” set of powertrains, in which the engines of the predecessor are highly likely to enter. This petrol “quartet” 1.6 (114 hp) and 2.0 (143 hp) liter, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel with an output of 109 hp.
Any changes in the design of the chassis were not made. At versions with a forward drive behind the semi-independent suspension is established, at updatings with scheme 4WD – independent. In the all-wheel-drive duster, by default, only the front wheels “row”, the traction is sent back when the electromagnetic clutch is blocked.
