New Honda Jazz 2019 – with a new 1.5-liter engine


Honda Company introduced the European version of the compact hatchback Honda Jazz 2019-2020. The published data precedes the official presentation of the novelty, which will take place in September at the Frankfurt motor show. Acceptance of orders for a new model in the countries of the Old World will begin in November, and deliveries of cars to the first customers will be established in early 2019.

The planned restyling of the Japanese compact for Europe did not bring global changes, ending with an easy correction of appearance and a small revision of the equipment. However, without significant innovations, it was not all wrong: the hatchback’s engine range was replenished with a 1.5-liter 130-horsepower i-VTEC, previously available in the US and Japanese markets. By the way, in its homeland the updated Jazz has already gone on sale under the name Fit and it stands here from 1428 thousand yen, which is equivalent to 778 thousand rubles. In Europe, the base cost of the Honda Jazz 2019-2020 is estimated at 17,000 euros (1.2 million rubles). Changes in the design of the body

Designers of Honda did not radically change the external appearance of the hatchback, confining themselves to point corrections. This was quite enough to give the car a more stylish and assertive look. In front of the expressiveness were added new headlamps with LED running light ribbons, a differently designed grille and a revised bumper with an impressive “skirt” and round fog-lights on the sides.

The rear part of the body of the model is now equipped with slightly tapered lanterns and a modernized bumper, the entire width of which stretches a black glossy strip.

The brightest and most exciting is the top version of Dynamic. It can be recognized by a sporty front bumper with an accentuated red strip of a splitter, a rear diffuser with the same red accent, all-LED optics, a chrome edging fog lamp, a spoiler on the top of the tailgate, black-painted mirrors and 16-wheel rims.

The range of colors of the body of Honda Jazz is supplemented with a new metallic shade of Skyride Blue.

Innovations in the cabin and equipment

In the interior of the renovated hatchback, everything remains the same, except that the Dynamic package is distinguished by the original finish. The seats of this version are covered with a special cloth with an orange stitching, and the steering wheel and gearshift lever have leather upholstery. In the most saturated version of the model there is a rear-view camera, keyless access and engine start button, multimedia complex with 7-inch screen (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), climate control, front and rear parking sensors.

The standard equipment of Honda Jazz also offers a very solid range of equipment – air conditioning, heated front seats, an initial multimedia system with Bluetooth and 4 speakers, cruise control, rain and light sensors, a lift assist assistant, an automatic braking system, six pillows. The complex of security systems Honda Sensing decently will unload the driver Jazz, taking over the functions of recognition of road signs, tracking of ahead-running vehicles and the number of movements.

In addition to the rich equipment and a high level of passenger protection, the restyling hatchback will be pleased with the spacious luggage compartment. By default, the volume of the cargo compartment is 354 liters, but when folding the backs of the rear seats (proportions 40:60) it increases to 897 liters. Well-designed configuration of the trunk and interior allows you to lay inside not only a mass of compact objects, but also long-lengths with dimensions up to 2480×1280 mm.

If the pre-reform Honda Jazz was sold in Europe with only one power plant, now, as it is easy to guess, there will be two engines. It:

  • The 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine, delivered from its predecessor, with 102 hp output. and 123 Nm.
  • The new 1.5-liter i-VTEC with a maximum output of 130 hp and a peak torque of 154 Nm.

Both units will work together with a 6-speed manual gearbox or CVT variator. “Junior” motor 1.3 i-VTEC on the average spends about 5 liters, “senior” 1.5 i-VTEC – about 5.4 liters.
